Effects of Physical Fitness on Stress Resilience in Older Adults

Effects of Physical Fitness on Stress Resilience in Older Adults: Older adults commonly experience a decreased ability to recover from stressors such as illness, injury or exertion, when compared to younger adults. The ability to recover from stress can also vary greatly between individuals of similar age. We hope to learn more about whether physical fitness is associated with a better ability to recover from stressors (different than exercise) among healthy older adults. This study will determine the effects of physical fitness on the capacity to resist oxidative stress, resting oxidative stress levels, and the hormonal response to a stressful event.
